Once you arrive at the airport, your driver will warmly receive you and drive you to your eco-lodge, The Mudhouse. These romantic rustic huts are made of clay with roofs made from woven coconut branches. Seductively located by a forest far off the beaten track, you can enjoy your stay in privacy and quiet among the abundant wildlife and natural beauty of the area. There’s no electricity, bathrooms are outside and transportation is only by bike. For lunch, enjoy delicious local cuisine at the edge of a tranquil pond. Day 2
Anamaduwa Area

Day 3
Anamaduwa – Minneriya – Dambulla

After breakfast, drive to Minneriya. In the afternoon, take a jeep safari in Minneriya Park, famous for its elephant population of around 400. You can see other wildlife: crocodiles, buffalo, deer, lizards, cormorants, pelicans and multitude of other birds. The park is also interesting for its landscapes, from swamps and lakes to mountains drawing on the horizon. Then your driver will transfer you to your hotel in Dambulla for relaxation and overnight.

Day 4
Dambulla

In the morning you’ll go on a guided tour of the Sigiriya rock fortress, the most visited site in Sri Lanka. You will get to explore the fascinating sights of this ancient royal stronghold, including breathtaking frescoes, gardens, natural caves and the ruins of the ancient royal palace at the top and discover why this is called the “eighth wonder of the world.” Then visit the Dambulla cave temples and be blown away by the amazing wall paintings and Buddha statues of this monastery built inside a system of five caves. Return to eco-lodge after your tour for relaxation and overnight.

Day 5
Dambulla – Kandy

Hit the road to Kandy, the last royal capital of Sri Lanka and a historic city surrounded by the verdant mountains of the Hill Country. Stop on your way at a spice garden in Matale to learn about numerous exotic spices the locals use as food or as body treatments. Once you arrive in Kandy, you’ll discover the beautiful city center on foot. Start at the Temple of the Tooth, a sacred Buddhist temple believed to hold a tooth relic of the Buddha. After that, take a refreshing walk (about 4 km) around the temple’s stunning lake and visit the nearby vegetable market, always vibrant with activity. Once you’ve immersed yourself in the city’s beautiful sights, return to hotel for overnight.

Day 6
Kandy

Drive towards the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage to marvel at the animal that’s made Sri Lanka world famous: the elephant. Here you can feast your eyes on these majestic creatures bathing, playing and having fun together in the river. Afterwards, you’ll tour the fascinating Millennium Elephant Foundation and then go on a memorable elephant-back ride to the river! In the afternoon, refresh yourself with a walk among impressive orchid and rose beds in the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens. Then return to your hotel and relax.

Kandy – Kotmale (2 hours by train and 1h30 by road)

Embark on a scenic train journey through the lush mountain ranges further towards the interior of the island. Your driver will pick you up from the train station and drive you Kothmale through atmospheric Nanu Oya. Here you’ll transfer to your boutique hotel with splendid views of the tropical countryside. Kotmale – Negombo

In the morning, go on to discover the splendid town of Kothmale. There are a number of adventurous activities to participate in—boat rides, excursion on foot or by bicycle and strolls through the area’s lush rice paddies with a chance to meet the farmers at work. You will visit a colossal dam and afterwards discover the historic Mahaweli Maha Seya temple and the temple of Hanuman and Pusulpitiya. When you are done enjoying their serene beauty, you’ll visit Bluefield tea factory to learn how famous Ceylon tea is processed from leaf to tea bag. Then hit the road to Negombo on the western coast. Transfer to hotel for relaxation and overnight.

Day 9
Negombo – International Airport – Penang (Malaysia)

You will be driven to the international airport in time to catch your flight to Kuala Lumpur. Your exciting trip to the “pearl of the Indian Ocean” ends here. Arrive at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport where you will be warmly received and transferred to Penang by our local agent. (This trip will take about 4 hours.) Transfer to your hotel and relax before enjoying a refreshing evening stroll in the vibrant city.

Penang

Take a memorable tour to the scenic outskirts of the island of Penang and go see how colorful batik cloths are made. Then visit a picturesque fishing village. Not too far from the village, you’ll have the chance to discover the local seasonal fruits and vegetable and a traditional Malay village. Then tour the famous Snake Temple built in 1850 and Kek Lok Si Temple, one of the largest Buddhist temples in Southeast Asia known its beautiful and numerous Buddha statues. Then go on an exciting hike up the Penang Hill, which rises 833m above sea level, and from the summit enjoy a panoramic view of the town below.
