Day 1
Arrival – Colombo Airport – Colombo

Our representative will pick you up from the airport upon your arrival and drive you to Colombo, the economic capital of this tropical island. You will go on a city tour of this historic seaport and discover the old quarters of Fort and Pettah, the Galle Face Green promenade, the Portuguese Fort and British colonial houses. Afterwards check in at your hotel and relax.

Day 2
Colombo – Sigiriya

In the morning, meet your city guide Mark Forbes at the Dutch Hospital, a colonial hospital turned shopping and restaurant complex. This Colombo history expert will take you on an entertaining and informative tour to discover the British, Dutch and Portuguese architecture of the old districts of Fort and Pettah. Then enjoy a cup of tea at the historic Grand Oriental Hotel feasting your eyes on a stunning view of the Colombo Port. Then drive inland towards the Cultural Triangle enjoying the roadside scenery of paddy fields, coconut groves and mountain ranges in the distance. Arrive at Dambulla, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and explore the captivating Buddhist Cave Temples, a monastery built within a system of five caves housing incredible murals of the Buddha. Climb on top for a breathtaking view of the surrounding area. Afterwards, your driver will transfer you to the hotel for overnight.

Day 3
Sigiriya and its surroundings

Spend the day exploring the legendary Sigiriya rock fortress, an ancient royal abode built into solid rock. Sigiriya is the most visited site in Sri Lanka and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This incredible structure was built by a 10th century king. Enjoy the magnificent frescoes, gardens with natural caves and the ruins of the royal palace on top of the rock.

Optional: If you are visiting during November and April, you can soar over the Cultural Triangle in a hot air balloon and astonishingly enjoy all the landmark historical sites from above. Day 4
Sigiriya – Madulkelle

Enjoy a delicious breakfast and hit the road south for a bumpy ride to Madulkelle. Along the way, stop by a wonderful Hindu temple and an exotic spice garden. Check in to your hotel and enjoy the lush scenery. Overnight at hotel.

Day 5

Have a gratifying breakfast enjoying the breathtaking view of the Knuckles mountain range. Then go on an adventurous stroll through tea plantations and meet tea pickers. Your hotel will offer many exciting sports such as trekking for you to enjoy throughout the day. You’ll also have the opportunity to enjoy the unique experience of para-motoring if you wish (not included in tour package). In the afternoon, visit the “Children’s Club” Association to discover the extraordinary work volunteers perform for the community. Return to hotel for relaxation and overnight.

Day 6
Madulkelle – Kandy

Drive towards Kandy, the last royal capital of Sri Lanka. You can discover this historic city on foot, starting at the sacred Temple of the Tooth, said to hold Buddha’s tooth relic. Then enjoy the refreshing breeze on a stroll around the temple’s lake and don’t miss out on visiting the nearby exotic vegetable market. In the afternoon, be treated to a captivating traditional Kandyan dance performance before transferring to hotel for overnight.

Day 7
Kandy – Nuwara Eliya

Depart to Sri Lanka’s “vegetable garden,” Nuwara Eliya, also the island’s highest town. On your way, stop by to explore the giant Kothmale water reservoir and the stunning Ramboda Falls. Once you arrive, enjoy a cooling walk in Victoria Park or around Lake Gregory. Then you will to visit a tea factory with an expert guide who will explain to you the process of harvesting tea leaves and processing them into tea. Take a stroll in the factory’s tea plantations and transfer to your hotel for overnight.

Day 8
Nuwara Eliya – Ella

Travel further inland towards the mountainous regions to discover the breathtaking scenery and the panorama of the city of Haputale on the valley below. If you prefer, you can take a scenic train ride through the mountains (not included in package). Afterwards, you will get to tour Lipton’s Seat, once a favored relaxation spot for the Scottish tea baron Sir Thomas Lipton. Enjoy the walk back down and transfer to your hotel in Ella.

Day 10
Ella – Buttala

Hit the road to Buttala where you will go camping. This secluded location is ideal for immersing yourself in the rural lifestyle and observing wildlife in their natural habitat. You will be served by well-trained local staff who knows the area well. You can discover the surroundings and enjoy the exotic wildlife on tours arranged in small groups. Before nightfall, you will go on a special one-hour ride to watch elephants! Enjoy the rustic overnight in camp, without electricity, surrounded by nature.

Day 11
Buttala – Galle

Hit the road again to the south coast of the country going past famed tourist beaches like Mirissa. Arrive at the historic city of Galle. You will go on a tour of this fascinating city guided by the British author Juliet Combes. Enjoy strolling through the narrow streets adorned with precious boutique shops. Return to hotel for relaxation and overnight.

Enjoy another exciting day in Galle. Go to Yatagala, passing by verdant rice fields, for a delightful Sri Lankan cuisine cooking class followed by a delectable traditional lunch.
