Day 1
Airport – Negombo

You arrive at Bandaranaike airport, where our representative will welcome you and give you the travelling documents. Transfer to your hotel at Negombo beach, 20 mins drive away from the airport. Relax in the sun, go for a nice swim and enjoy a walk on the beach, one of the largest in Sri Lanka. Return to your hotel for dinner and to relax for the night.

Day 2
Negombo – Dambulla

Visit the Negombo fish market early morning, and select the choicest seafood for your lunch with the aid of your culinary guide. Proceed to the hotel kitchen, where you can enjoy a cooking demonstration, followed by a delicious seafood meal. After lunch, drive to Dambulla and visit the Rock Temple. Transfer to your hotel. Day 3

Mid-morning visit a spice garden. Take the opportunity to discover a multitude of spices and learn about their uses, from cooking to body care. Then proceed to Habarana for a village lunch. Take a 20 min ride on a bullock cart to a country house and enjoy a local rice and curry meal adapted to your delicate palate and discover some cooking techniques from the lady of the house. Then visit the Lion Rock of Sigiriya and transfer to your hotel for the night.

Day 4
Dambulla – Knuckles

Drive towards the Knuckles Range and arrive at your luxury homestay for lunch. Visit a tea factory in the afternoon and walk through a tea plantation. Transfer to your accommodation and start dinner preparations with the chef. The large kitchen enables you to take part in the preparation of the dishes, inspired by Sri Lankan tradition and seasonal ingredients. After the meal, relax on the terrace under the moonlight.

Day 5
Knuckles – Kandy

Drive to Kandy, the last royal capital of the island. Go for a city tour, starting with the Temple of the Tooth, a holy Buddhist temple. It is located in the royal palace complex and houses a relic of the tooth of Buddha. Afterwards, walk around the lake or take a small boat ride (optional). Then explore the vegetable market near the lake, very lively and though sometimes full of pushy vendors, the diversity of products and the atmosphere make it a worthwhile visit. Transfer to your hotel in the afternoon and relax.

Day 6
Kandy – Nuwara Eliya

In the morning, proceed to Nuwara Eliya, the highest town in Sri Lanka, known as the country’s vegetable garden. On the way, stop at Ramboda falls and at Kothmale reservoir’s view point. The temperature here is cooler and very much appreciated by locals during the Sinhalese and Tamil new year in April. Visit a vegetable garden and buy vegetables at the local market to cook for yourself. It is time to practice after the lessons you have had. A cook is here to help you. For others, a stroll in the city or a game of golf are other options.

Day 7
Nuwara Eliya – Bandarawela

You proceed towards the middle of the mountains area and discover the stunning view of the valley below Haputale, which is a magnificent view of green fields many mountains and lovely fresh tea plantations. Then you visit a tea factory and explore the tea plantations and watch the tea-pluckers pluck the tea leaves and go to Lipton’s seat, where the genius of tea used to sit and contemplate his land. Have a walk. Then transfer to your hotel for a cozy evening.

Day 8

After breakfast, meet with your culinary guide, Deen, at the market, to buy ingredients for lunch. Take a two hour hike through rice fields and gardens to arrive at his home to prepare the Sri Lankan meal with his wife. In the afternoon, relax in your hotel’s garden or at the swimming pool.

Day 9
Bandarawela – Colombo

Go for a train ride and enjoy the wonderful views of the beautiful green trees, high mountains and lovely landscape from the train. Your driver will meet you from the train station in Peradeniya (near Kandy) to drive you back to busy Colombo. Enjoy the beautiful scenery when you drive back to Colombo. Transfer to your hotel and have dinner at one of the many good restaurants in the city (not included). Return to your hotel for overnight stay.

Colombo – Airport

The morning is dedicated to shopping and a visit to the areas of the Dutch fort and Pettah market to explore the colonial architecture with its Dutch and Portuguese influences. Visit also the Dutch period museum in Pettah. Then transfer to the international airport and end of your journey.
